Two middle-aged couples arrive at Noah's marriage counselor, who runs a country house. The couples have come to get help but it turns out that Noah has planned the meeting to reveal a secret, which will have major consequences.

Suddenly Alex finds himself the leader of a local theatre group of people with learning difficulties. Through their work together, Alex comes to appreciate that we all have our own talents which can grow if given the opportunity and support. "The Importance of Tying Your Own Shoes" is based on the work of the Glada Hudik Theatre whose performances have met with success in Sweden and internationally since it was formed in 1996.

The brothers Ingmar and Gustav Nilsson are running a motel and a shop where everything from car tires to fish nets can be bought. They're very unsuccessful, and Ingmar wants to sell the place, but Gustav doesn't. One day the municipality wants to buy their business buildings, but they refuse to tell why until they've bought it. Para complicar ainda mais as coisas, ela está apaixonada por Elin, uma garota do colégio, porém o único a saber desta paixão é seu computador, onde ela faz todas as suas anotações. No dia de seu aniversário, Agnes não percebe que a irmã mais velha de Elin descobre suas anotações e faz uma aposta com a irmã: se ela deixar Agnes beijá-la, pagará à irmã 20 cronas(moeda sueca).
