Lucia, uma atriz e diretora italiana ao completar setenta anos, decide voltar para a pequena cidade, onde passou dias felizes na infância. Ela chega a Humberstone, uma cidade localizada no deserto do Chile, com o objetivo de cumprir sua utopia: estabelecer um pequeno canal de TV e trazer a "caixa mágica", onde a televisão nunca veio antes, tendo assim a chance para começar, e construir tudo do zero.
