Alex's Father
Description: The story of 26 year old Brandi Seaton. She is attractive, smart and single. After breaking off her engagement the day before her wedding, she decides to test the waters of the singles dating scene. How and where to begin is the problem. Brandi's roommate, Anita introduces her to a telephone "partyline" where she meets a handsome, professional named Alex. After one meeting both Brandi and Alex's lives change as their friendly conversations grow into obsessions and culminate in a tragic encounter.

Director Vincent Sherman's 1961 drama stars Efrem Zimbalist Jr., Don Ameche, Jack Kelly, Angie Dickinson, Herbert Marshall, Jesse White, Parley Baer, Carroll O'Connor, Ray Danton, Andra Martin, Rhodes Reason and Louise Lorimer.
The original film featured the then unknown Rudolph Valentino. To cash in on his rise to stardom, it was re-edited to feature more of him. Various shots were repeated several times; long shots were blown up into close-ups and inter-cut with other footage; some scenes were projected on a loop, so that Rudolph Valentino repeated the same motions several times over; one scene was used as a flashback; and out-takes from the original were inserted into the new film. In addition, the locale of the new picture was switched from World War 1 Germany to a desert island by the simple expedient of inserting shots of bathing beauties on a palm-fringed beach throughout the film.
