Dimitris Psathas (Greek: Δημήτρης Ψαθάς; 1907 – 13 November 1979) was a modern Greek satirist and playwright. He was born in Trabzon of Pontos, then part of the Ottoman Empire, in 1907.
He went to Athens in 1923 and finished his studies whereby he devoted himself to both journalism and the theatre. In 1937, his first book was published Justice is in a good mood, followed the next year by Justice is in a bad mood. He became known with his book Madam Sousou. He wrote many successful theatrical plays. Christos Alexiou describes his theatrical work as "polite comedies" which supplied "relief during the occupation and civil wars". He also wrote a 500-page historical chronicle about the resistance of his compatriots entitled Land of Pontos. As a journalist, he has been described as one of the country's principal columnists during the mid-1970s.
He died in Athens in 1979.

This bitter political satire is based on a theatre play, later made to a movie, of which the current film is a remake.It's main focus is the clientelistic character of Greek politics which makes a well-meaning but naive Health minister to employ an ambitious young provincial with a talent for lying in order to handle the diverse demands of his volatile political clientèle.The provincial becomes the mastermind behind every move of the minister causing the envy of the minister's closest associates and of his good-looking wife, played by rising Greek media star Zeta Makrypoulia. Changes of fortune abound and finally the plot reveals that the lying provincial is not a bad person in heart although he never denounces lying as a survival strategy.

Vasilis is a poor conservative man who works in a company and tends to buy the lottery very often - but with no luck. His life will turn upside down when his younger sister turns out to be an anarchist and gets involved with a leftist rebellious man he already knows and hates. Eventually, in an ironic twist of faith, the two of them will earn millions and gain the exact lifestyle they used to fight against and Vasilis will lose his mind.

Nikos, a grumpy and clumsy man, is the manager at a shoe factory and he's living with his wife and his niece. Everyone regards him as a curmudgeon, especially his niece who maintains a parallel relationship with Nikos' partner and a client and doesn't want to get married.

An extremelly honest man, Timoleon Lambrou (Dinos Iliopoulos), who has lost his job many times due to his honesty finds a wallet full of cash and a letter from the USA that belongs to a military General who is the president o a large public organisation and decides to return it. The General's wife though, Lia (Rena Vlahopoulou), covers for her brother (Andreas Douzos) who has embezzled from her husband's organisation and the letter proves the lies and embezzlements. Finally, Lia gets hold of the letter despite the honest man's objections but the General, decides to hire him due to his honesty. There, he discovers the embezzlements and when he tells everything to the General, his wife and her brother try to prove that he is crazy, a crook, a communist and anti-systemic, things that usually make the General furious. The honest man is imprisoned but in the end Lia decides to come forth with the truth.

Yangos Aggelis (Lambros Konstantaras), director of a factory, is the type of classical friend. He is only interested in himself while he is engaged for five years with Eleni (Beata Asimakopoulou) whom she does not say married. At the same time he is sexually attached to his czech secretary, Lilly, whom he wants to marry with an impoverished employee in order to have his hand. When she learns that Mrs. Papageorgiou (Miranda Myrat), the widow of the factory owner, intends to remarry, she does not hesitate to apply. However, his excessive selfishness and irresponsible attitude lead him to complete isolation, as everyone leaves him.

A God-fearing young man refuses to sell his, rich in ore, pasture to a mining company. So an agent of this company creates a scam of a so-called miracle in order to convince him.

Alekos (Dinos Iliopoulos) is in love with Voula (Maria Voulgari) whose brother threatens to kill him if he doesn't marry her soon. Alekos' father (Pantelis Zervos) on the other hand insists that Alekos' sister (Zoe Laskari) has to get married before him. His sister Annoula (Zoe Laskari) is in love with Antonis (Stephanos Stratigos) and pressures him to ask for her hand in marriage from her family. Antonis meets Alekos by accident at a cafe in Panorama - they don't know each other - and advises him to use the infalible method of "escaping through an engagement" to calm down Voula's brother. This is after all what he intends to do himself... And God help them...

A few hours after the arrival of Aristeidis (Dinos Iliopoulos), Mary's (Kakia Analyti) soon to be fiance, her father Andreas (Vasilis Diamantopoulos), an upstanding citizen, lies about having a meeting with the Bishop and instead goes to meet his neighbor Betty (Anna Kyriakou). Aristeidis, on his way to Mary's house as a series of misfortunes and ends up in a fight with Andreas (whom he does not know) while he is with Betty at a studio apartment.

Thomas is a good but low intelligence man. He is in love with Urania, a widow, whose stingy husband Sotiris is over a year dead, as the ship he was sailing in, sunk. When Sotiris appears, explaining that he was hiding so as to get the life insurance money. Urania, who already has a love affair, convinces Thomas to murder him, pretending she is in love with him. Thomas indeed tries unsuccessfully. Everything is revealed when Sotiris discovers that the insurance money have been stolen and appears screaming during his memorial service. A trial ensues, where Thomas admits that he is not only an imbecile but 'an imbecile and a half'.
