Two speleologists, Esteban and Pedro, travel to a mountainous area located in northern Spain, near a small village, to study a newly discovered cave and determine if it is of scientific interest, while Gabi, Esteban's wife, awaits their return on a lonely road at the foot of the mountain.

Suspected of murder, fifteen year-old Ramón Fortuna is held in a detention centre. He feels as if he has woken from a dream, a dream lived in Vallecas, a working-class neighborhood in Madrid. His childhood is over. His mother and sister have dedicated their lives to him; now, although convinced of his innocence, they are powerless. His lawyer Marcelo - another son of El Barrio - is reluctant to take the case, happier to sever all ties with his secret past and a love long lost.

Até que Fontana (Ricardo Bartis) lhes propõe um novo golpe: assaltar o caminhão que transporta os pagamentos da cidade de San Fernando, que transporta 7 milhões. Tanto Angel quanto Nene aceitam a proposta, para fugir do tédio e superar a crise que existe entre eles naquele momento. Porém, o que parecia ser um trabalho fácil acaba se tornando um verdadeiro massacre. Fontana, Angel e Nene decidem fugir para o Uruguai, para evitar que sejam mortos pelos policiais argentinos, que estão sedentos por vingança. Lá eles se escondem em um apartamento emprestado por Losardo (Héctor Alterio), um mafioso local, onde esperam a chegada de novos documentos fraudados que permitam que eles viajem para o Brasil. Mas quanto mais os documentos demoram a chegar mais a tensão entre os três cresce, chegando a níveis insuportáveis.

Santiago wakes up like any other morning. He goes down to the kitchen and his whole family is waiting for him: it's his birthday. They all sing "Happy Birthday to You" and give him presents. But when he opens the present of his youngest son, he gets angry and says he doesn't like it. The boy starts crying and saying that he loves him, but Santiago answers that he doesn't believe him and he tells the boy that he is fired and that he wants another son, who is thinner, who doesn't need glasses and who resembles him more.
