Ao lado dos pais e das duas irmãs, Evan Asher (Harrison Gilbertson) é um jovem tímido e pouco sociável que se muda para uma grande casa, cujo passado é marcado por uma família que perdeu todos os filhos. Aproveitando o baixo preço e sem problemas superstições, os Asher se mudam para o local. Lá, Evan aproveita o tempo livre para desenvolver uma amizade/namoro com a vizinha Sam (Liana Liberato). Curiosos, os dois vão explorar o passado sombrio do local e despertar forças nada amigáveis.
