But the country and family have become unfamiliar to him. His wife Irene and her daughter Lotte built a new life all by themselves in the tough times of the post-war turmoil in the still young Federal Republic of Germany. With a lot of commitment and dedication, she runs her own department store today and has become an extremely successful businesswoman. Not only as a consultant, the lawyer Dr. Heinz Werther stand her more and more aside. It is becoming increasingly impossible for Irene to do justice to both, men and lover alike. She hopes that even without her, Martin will slowly find his way back in his homeland and open up perspectives for him..

No Greater Love
Professor Gutgesell
Directed by Harald Braun and told from the perspective of Bertha von Suttner, the first female to receive the Nobel Peace Prize, The Alfred Nobel Story - No Greater Love chronicles the life of scientist, inventor, and businessman Alfred Nobel. Nobel built a massive fortune throughout his life, and while much if it was amassed by his inventions--dynamite being perhaps the most notable--he was also revered for his discoveries within the fields of science and economics. Upon his death, Nobel decided that his fortune was simply too great to continue in the form of an inheritance or single charitable donation, opting instead to use the money as reward for the greatest contributors to physics, chemistry, medicine, literature, and, of course, peace.

Exploitation between Eros and Thanatos in this “sexual tragedy of youth” based on Frank Wedekind’s play. Setting the film in the 1920s provided a chance to explore “modern” youth culture, complete with cigarettes, jazz music, the gramophone, and a goodly bit of alcohol. Richard Oswald, a master of films of manners and young sex beginning in the 1910s, fully explores the temptations of the youthful body, even early childhood flirtatiousness. At the same time, with his target audience in mind, the film laments the bigotry and double standards of the adult world.
