Curiosa produção que trata de uma forma diferenciada um problema que já foi exposto à exaustão pelo cinema: a situação dos judeus durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Aqui o cenário é um gueto na Lituânia, durante o ano de 1942, onde os judeus são obrigados a sobreviver. Um oficial nazista, antes ator e músico de jazz, se apaixona por uma cantora e atriz judia que vive no gueto. Ali, ele ordena que ela e seus companheiros montem uma peça de teatro. No principio, os prisioneiros judeus se mostram resistentes para encarar a tarefa, mas com o tempo percebem que pode ser uma boa oportunidade para tentar levar um pouco de normalidade a toda essa situação e ainda arrumar um jeito de divertir seu sofrido povo. Aos poucos, eles escapam da censura e conseguem montar um espetáculo capaz de expressar sua terrível realidade.
This film tells a grotesque story of image design. "Diringas" is a mysterious term conceived by the main character, which becomes a product of unlimited possibilites. Everybody is convinced that image is everything - so everybody fights for if. Nobody knows what it is, it is only important that you have it.
They only wanted to challenge the unjust government. But once they did...they had no way back. When Baltic states regain their independence from the Soviet Union, thousands of Russians living outside Russia find themselves cut off from their native land. Some of them return to Russia, others become naturalized citizens and go on with their lives in the new country. However, two Russian brothers, Kostya and Yura, are among those who do not want to return to Russia, nor to live under the new government. When brothers find out that they must leave the country or will be deported, they decide to challenge the government that they believe has violated their rights. The brothers capture a minivan full of passengers and demand a ransom of a million dollars as a compensation for the injustice inflicted upon them. According to their plan, none of the hostages will be hurt, however, as the brothers capture the minivan, the first blood spilled.
