O permafrost siberiano está derretendo. Ossadas antigas surgem do solo e os animais selvagens estão desaparecendo. É nesse contexto que três iacutos, nativos da região, se aventuram na imensidão dessa paisagem em diferentes jornadas. Enquanto Roman e Kyym procuram por uma espécie rara de rena, um cientista vasculha o permafrost em busca de uma célula intacta de mamute, material que ele precisa para clonar o animal extinto.
