Seika Mayama

A performance of the new kabuki play, written by Mayama Seika, premiered in April 1932 at the Kabukiza. The play comprises of one act divided into 2 scenes: "Before the gate of Hokkedô Temple" and "In the Shôgun household mansion."

A película desenvolve a crônicas do final da vida dos 47 Ronin, que tornaram-se (baseado historicamente) uma lenda na história japonesa.

This film is based on a real Meiji era performer -- and tells of Tochuken's partnership with his wife (played by Chikako Hosokawa) who played shamisen for his songs/recitations), his affair with a geisha (Sachiko Chiba), and the deterioration of his partnership and marriage.
