Chicago, 1909. Dois garotos, Tom Powers e Matt Doyle, que são bem amigos, crescem numa área pobre da cidade. Realmente em pouco tempo Tom e Matt ganham o bastante para frequentar os melhores lugares, usarem roupas finas e carros luxuosos, mas para manter este padrão de vida o preço é às vezes muito alto.
