DOWN HOME is a rural drama set in New England and stars Leatrice Joy as Nancy Pelot, daughter of the town drunk. He was once a businessman and still owns a local farm, but Nancy now supports her father and herself with a mysterious job in a nearby town.

A farce involving a judge, his young wife, and the DA she's seeing.

Charlot convence Tillie (Edna Purviance), a filha de um abastado agricultor, a fugir com ele (e levar o dinheiro do pai). Na cidade Tillie embebeda-se e vai parar à prisão enquanto Charlot foge com o dinheiro e a sua antiga namorada Mabel. Mais tarde, Charlot descobre que Tillie (a trabalhar como empregada de mesa) herdou uma grande propriedade do seu multimilionário tio. Charlot abandona Mabel e convence Tillie a mudar-se para a casa do seu falecido tio, mas Mabel arranja maneira de ser contratada para criada da casa. O tio, que afinal não morreu, aparece e chama a policia para expulsar todos da sua propriedade.

Charlie begins to woo a woman on a bench, only to have her seaman boyfriend object. After a brick fight between the two men that eventually involves two police officers, all five people end up in the local pond to cool off.

A painter turned tramp (Chaplin), devastated by losing the woman he was courting as a wealthy man, finds himself drunk and getting drunker by the minute with some sailors at a bar until he's literally falling down. He keeps futilely trying to draw the woman's picture on the floor with a piece of chalk until he finally passes out cold (or perhaps dies, as in the poem) at the end of the film.

To show his girl how brave he is, Pug challenges the champion to a fight. Charlie referees, trying to avoid contact with the two monsters.

Charlie, competing with his rival's race car, offers Mabel a ride on his motorcycle but drops her in a puddle. He also kidnaps his rival before the race. But Mabel decides to take the wheels in his place, thus causing a threat to Charlie. As the race progresses, despite a very late start, Mabel manages to gain a lead of three laps. Charlie with his henchmen, tries to sabotage the race by using oil and bombs on the track. They seem to succeed for a while, but their dirty tricks were not enough to stop the high-spirited Mabel from winning the race.

Uma jovem ingênua tem seu guarda-chuva roubado. Carlitos a ajuda a recuperá-lo, porém quer ser recompensado pela tarefa, mas não recebe nada além da advertência de um policial.

O vigarista Carlitos tenta conseguir fama e dinheiro como repórter. Para isso, ele rouba a câmera de um jornalista para entregar a foto como se fosse dele, o que resulta em uma grande perseguição.
