Dominique Serrand

Após entrar para o programa de proteção à testemunha, uma família ligada à máfia é transferida para a França. De início, eles se adaptam à nova vida, mas aos poucos eles passam a resolver os problemas que surgem a seu modo. Ao mesmo tempo, líderes da máfia nos Estados Unidos procuram o grupo em busca de vingança. O agente do FBI Stansfield fará de tudo para protegê-los, mas nem sempre contará com a ajuda do pai da família, Fred Blake, nem dos outros membros.

An anorexic young woman escapes from a psychiatric clinic and meets a young man who wants to help. She is caught and returned to her parents, who are soon beheaded by a garrotting stranger making the rounds about town, apparently striking only when it rains. The orphaned young woman and her new lover launch their own investigation and are endangered when a link is discovered with the victims and a particular operation performed years before.

The climbing of an immense staircase made up of the most varied stairs- Symbolic scenes occur on different levels where characters seem to be prisoners of their deeds and of their own folly. The steep staircase leads little by little towards the zones of great light where human beings and nonhuman beings meet.
