The story of a cook who tries to stop an opium ring in ancient China.

Sammo Hung plays three different characters: Fatty, Fatty's father and Fatty's grandfather, Hung Kau. Fatty is a hotel worker, yearning for sudden wealth. Therefore, he, and his co-worker, enter the gambling world, to the dismay of his father. When Fatty hits rock bottom, the ghost of his grandfather resurrects to help him. However, Fatty learns that his grandfather was murdered, therefore, he will stop at nothing to avenge his death.

Mui Da Hsien (Anita Mui), the eldest sister, is the only breadwinner in the family. She spends all her time in raising up and discipline her three sisters, Yee Hsien (Ann Bridgewater), Sarm Hsien (Charine Chan), and Sai Hsien (Fennie Yuen). They are aware of Da Hsien is becoming a spinster and they are not allowed to get married if Da Hsien remains single. So they decide to find her a husband. So all their boyfriends very anxious to give a helping hand. They find Tsang To Choy (Eric Tsang) who just has broken heart is the right man, but Tsang is scared away by Da Hsien's shrew temper...

Professor Kiu (Roy Chiao) is a mad scientist who developed mental disorders from grieving the death of his son. Kiu orders his assistants to kidnap men to his lab, located in a private container on a vessel, for experiments. Police inspector Uncle Wah (Cho Tat-wah) had sent his subordinates to gather evidence in the vessel, but failed to find any. Shek La-mai (Dean Shek), an acrobatic performer and a former commander of the Special Duties Unit is a single father of three children. One night during a performance with his protege, Lam Hong (Gary Young Lim), witnessed and intervened in a kidnapping incident by Kiu's henchmen, and the two became targets of Kiu. On the other hand, Uncle Wah discovers Shek's resemblance to a Japanese scientist named Toyota, who colluded with Kiu. Wah formulates a plan for Shek to act undercover as Toyota in order to gather evidence from Kiu's lab.
