A Hong Kong version of the 1978 American film Same Time, Next Year, I Will Wait For You stars the winning screen pair of Anita Yuen and Tony Leung Ka Fai. So Yau Shing (Tony Leung Ka Fai) is a married salesman who meets the spirited and lovely Cheung Wai Sum (Anita Yuen) two weeks before she's due to be married. But love can't be denied, no matter the circumstance. The two fall passionately into bed, but the reality of their lives won't allow for everlasting happiness. They agree to meet at the same place and at the same time every year to consummate their love...but can they - and their initially unaware spouses - handle the long term love affair?

King Kong, a clever thief who steals a cache of diamonds from some gangsters, frames another thief called White Glove for the crime. Based in Chinese opera, the film tells the story of a young scholar in the Tang Dynasty, Li Yi who travels to the capital Changan to take the national civil examination. During the Lantern Festival, he encounters Huo Xiaoyu in the night market and picks up the purple hairpin she leaves behind by chance. Using the hairpin as a token of love, Li proposes to her on that same night. However, “the course of true love never did run smooth.” With the assistance of a mysterious man in the yellow robe (Huangshanke), together they have to fight against the wicked plot of Official Lu.

Finally, she hatches a plot and makes the man agree to her marrying his son ; a sly fortune-teller ; a lively gym, a rich widow quarrels with the trainer of a gymnasium because his dog has bitten her cat ; and an opera school, a woman signs, leaning on the balcony, and a man tries to strangle her. In fact they are rehearsing an opera…… One evening, Wah is on the night shift, and Yuen watches the opera troupe rehearse to the end. Under the influence of drugs, Yu mistakenly believes that a divorced man has murdered a taxi dancer. He alerts the police, but the whole thing is nothing more than a misunderstanding.
