Alejandro Jodorowsky nasceu em 1929 em uma cidade costeira do Chile. Em A Dança da Realidade, Jodorowsky reconstitui a aventura dos seus primeiros anos de vida naquela cidade, onde descobriu os fundamentos da realidade durante uma infância infeliz e alienada como parte de uma família desarraigada.
