Paul é um sucesso que ficou obsoleto com seu trabalho e sua vida. Ele perdeu o amor de sua vida, mas eles ainda são colegas de trabalho. Então ele decide "contrair" o câncer para poder ser popular novamente com Brad. Quando o resultado do teste (supostamente falso) volta, ele é diagnosticado com uma mancha real nos pulmões que "metastatizou" e é colocado em repouso na cama e em um regime de drogas. Mas o diagnóstico é real ou falsificado ou é uma "intervenção" de seus amigos, colegas de trabalho e ex-amante ... Sua família e amigos, de fato, se reúnem ao seu redor e a hilaridade ocorre - com algumas discussões familiares.
