Inicialmente ela não colabora, mas ela namora um gângster, Joe Lilac (Dana Andrews), que foi solto por falta de provas. A Promotoria pretende detê-la para interrogatório até conseguir provas contra Joe, então O'Shea tem a idéia de se hospedar na casa onde os professores estão reunidos, usando o pretexto de que vai colaborar na enciclopédia, pois a polícia não a procurará em uma casa habitada por intelectuais.

In this musical, a sharp witted press agent teams up with an unemployed chorine and dubs her "Miss Manhattan" to promote a cheap line of clothing. To escort her about town, the agent invents a "Mr. Manhattan." He then has them fake a marriage. When he realizes that he is in love with his creation, the agent promptly fires "Mr. M" and takes her to the altar personally. Songs include: "Ma, He's Making Eyes At Me," "Unfair To Love," and "A Lemon In The Garden Of Love."

Joel & Garda Sloan, a husband and wife detective team, who also sell rare books in New York, take a vacation to Seaside City. At Seaside, Joel's pal, Mike Stevens is managing and preparing for their beauty pageant. Joel is made one of the judges plus he has invested $5,000 in it, to Garda's dismay. Eric Bartell, promoter, arrives to dupe Stevens. When Ed Connors, New York racketeer arrives, Bartell is mysteriously murdered. Joel and Garda set out to investigate the murder.
