Karl Dieter Gartelmann, a German photographer and filmmaker, arrived in Ecuador in the seventies, in the midst of the oil boom, with an old 16mm Bolex video camera, and began a journey through the Ecuadorian jungle, collecting the visual testimony of a life that is dying. This documentary brings together the director's permanent concerns: culture and nature wasted by extractivism. A conversation between two directors about the creation of memory through cinema.

Every afternoon Noelí, a young Dominican woman, hangs out on the beach at Las Terrenas. Hidden in the family's abandoned library, schizophrenic uncle Felipe is devoted to setting words free from the constraints of dogmas. His wisdom sets Manuela free from her own dogmas and forever changes her relationship with words, including her own name.

The Zuquillos are four women who have worked for several years in a popular grocery market in the city of Quito, a place where they have cultivated a great friendship. One day, the entire market collapses due to its dire conditions, leaving the main characters without a place of work and in an agonizing situation about their future. So Charo decides to migrate to the United States, where his sister lives, but they deny him a visa at the American consulate. Desperate, she goes to a smuggler and asks him to make her enter the northern country illegally to achieve the American dream.
