Throughout his career at the film studio in St. Petersburg, Klushantsev pioneered and invented legendary techniques for filming the planets, stars and weightnessless - long before anyone else. He went on to redefine the science fiction genre and influence the way Hollywood made their science fiction films, including the Academy Award-winning Visual Effects Master, Robert Skotak, a man who spent years trying to track Klushantsev down

The dramatic story of three great Russian avant-garde painters from the beginning of the last century – Kazimir Malevich, Pavel Filonov and Vladimir Tatlin – and their supporter, Nikolai Punin, the first post-revolution Commissar of the Hermitage and Russian Museums. They dedicated their lives to belief in the revolution and its connection to avant-garde art, but the communist regime betrayed them. The history depicted on the painted canvases reflects the tumultuous period of the 1920s and 30s in the Soviet Union, in Leningrad and in artistic circles of the time. Only with perestroika have the avant-garde paintings, stored in museum archives, again seen the light of day.

Dinamarca, século XIX. Filippa (Bodil Kjer) e Martine (Birgitte Federspiel) são filhas de um rigoroso pastor luterano que sempre pregou a salvação através da renúncia. As irmãs sacrificam suas paixões da juventude em nome da fé e das obrigações, e mesmo muitos anos depois da morte do pai, elas mantém vivos seus ensinamentos entre os habitantes da cidade. Então surge no vilarejo Babette (Stéphane Audran), uma misteriosa parisiense refugiada da guerra civil na França, que se oferece para ser a cozinheira e faxineira da família.
