Kubo vive uma normal e tranquila vida em uma pequena vila no Japão com sua mãe. Até que um espírito vingativo do passado muda completamente sua vida, ao fazer com que todos os tipos de deuses e monstros o persigam. Agora, para sobreviver, Kubo terá de encontrar uma armadura mágica que foi usada pelo seu falecido pai, um lendário guerreiro samurai.

Ovo (Isaac Hempstead-Wright) é um garoto órfão, que desde bebê foi criado nos esgotos da cidade de Ponte Queijo pelos boxtrolls, amáveis criaturas que vivem do lixo deixado por humanos. Como os boxtrolls são caçados impiedosamente por Archibald Snatcher (Ben Kingsley) e sua gangue, eles apenas deixam o subterrâneo à noite e, ainda assim, de vez em quando um deles é capturado. Quando Peixe, o boxtrolls que criou Eggs, é pego, o garoto decide se aventurar pela cidade para resgatá-lo. É quando conhece Winnie (Elle Fanning), uma garota mimada que faz com que perceba que ele é, na verdade, um humano.

Norman Babcock (Kodi Smit-McPhee) é um garoto que consegue ver e falar com os mortos. Entretanto, o único que acredita em suas habilidades é Neil, um amigo excêntrico. Um dia, o tio de Norman conta sobre um importante ritual anual realizado na cidade, com o objetivo de protegê-la de uma maldição jogada por uma bruxa séculos atrás. Norman resolve ajudar no ritual, mas as coisas não saem como planejado e uma nuvem mágica faz com que os mortos se levantem das tumbas da cidade.

Na trama, o pirata Capitão (Grant) é um aventuresco, embora nem sempre bem sucedido, terror dos Sete Mares. Seu sonho: derrotar Black Bellamy (Jeremy Piven) e Cutlass Liz (Salma Hayek) e levar o troféu de Pirata do Ano. Para conseguir, Capitão vai com sua tripulação da exótica Ilha de Sangue às ruas da Londres vitoriana, batalhando contra a Rainha Vitória (Imelda Staunton) e com a preciosa ajuda do jovem Charles Darwin (David Tennant).

3-D puppet animation adventure about two kids from Warsaw in Poland who discover an old piano in amongst a pile of junk that transforms into a magical flying machine. The kids, Anna and her cousin Chip Chip, use the Flying Machine to fly across Europe to find Anna's father in London. Before it happens, they have to learn how to fly the magical machine... On their way they have to navigate an obstacle course of hot air-balloons, swoop into Paris on a mission of the flying machine, weather a fierce storm in the English Channel, and with sunset fast approaching find dad in the big darkening city of London. Before they reach him they are torn from the flying machine by a magic storm, and find themselves back in the pile of junk in Warsaw. However maybe the Dad saw something in the stormy skies of London, because the next day he comes home to his daughter.

"In this film you will see a woman's handkerchief tied around a man's wrist, a well-shaven pig's head, some adolescents who are more inventive than their elders in struggling against oppression... You will not, however, hear any dialog. Words do not prepare, do not accompany, do not comment upon the action. This is not a silent film, but a film in which the only moment of life retained for the cinematographic spectacle are those where people do not speak.
