Fu Biao

Two grifters, Wang Bo and Wang Li, a couple who've been arguing, board a train in rural China. He wants to fleece a peasant, nicknamed Dumbo for his naiveté, who's carrying 60,000 yuan and trusts everyone. She wants to protect the hick kid, an act of expiation brought on by prayer and a visit to a temple. Also on board are one of more sets of thieves, including a calculating boss and his femme fatale. The boss wants to recruit Wang Bo, and a series of contests ensue, with the potential of turning deadly. While Li guards Dumbo from Bo and the others, can she and Bo sort out their relationship? And can Dumbo's simple spirituality touch anyone else?

Don Tyler (Donald Sutherland) é um diretor americano que está em plena China, rodando um longa-metragem sobre o último imperador da dinastia Qing. Em meio às filmagens Tyler decide que não tem mais condições de dirigir o filme e resolve abandonar o set. Logo em seguida Tyler entra em coma, fazendo com que todos acreditem que sua morte é questão de dias. Com isso a equipe de filmagens começa a arrecadar a quantia necessária para bancar o funeral do diretor. Após constatar que o dinheiro obtido não é o suficiente, eles passam a armar planos mirabolantes para conseguir o restante do dinheiro necessário.

The wife of a prominent psychiatrist can't find her marriage certificate one day. This "jiehunzheng" is all important. Without it, the family officially has never existed, including the daughter. The film tells of the attempts made by a Beijing van driver (Ge You) to obtain his wage arrears from travel agency boss (Fu Biao) - even to the point of kidnapping the latter's Singaporean girlfriend (Jacklyn Wu).
