Nas trincheiras da Primeira Guerra Mundial o tenente Raleigh (Asa Butterfield) fez alguns contatos para que conseguisse se juntar na linha de frente ao seu amigo de infância, capitão Stanhope (Sam Claflin). Contudo, Stanhope fica horrorizado com a chega de Raleigh no tenso e claustrofóbico esconderijo, onde estão antecipando um massivo avanço alemão. Com três anos de guerra, o desejo de Stanhope quando tudo acabar é voltar para os braços da amada, Margaret (Rose Reade), irmã de Raleigh.

There’s a sense that time is running out. Our narrator, Simon, is like a man sinking in quicksand. He’s a man of routine. Rising, dressing, travelling to work on the DLR. Every day is the same. His sense of self is slipping away as he becomes (perhaps literally) someone else. It’s a similar story for Dr Benham, stuck in his STD clinic watching a parade of patients come and go. In his parallel story of metamorphosis he’s being spat out by his own life. He too is becoming a different person, from the feet up.

A disgruntled married man called Tom believes that there is a better life for him out there somewhere. On his way home one night he gets attacked and falls into a parallel world where he lives 6 other lives including a Rock-Star, A homeless person and the 'hoody' that attacked him. These lives help him to re-evaluate his priorities and values but in order to get home he must face some of his deepest fears and desires. Will he make it home or is the grass greener on the other side?
