A cidade de Mill Valley é assombrada há décadas pelos mistérios envolvendo o casarão da família Bellows. Em 1968, a jovem Sarah Bellows, uma garota problemática que mantinha um mau relacionamento com os pais, foi ao porão para escrever um livro repleto de histórias macabras. Décadas mais tarde, um grupo de adolescentes descobre o livro e começa a investigar o passado de Sarah. No entanto, as histórias do livro começam a se tornar reais.
