Baseando-se na novela de Benito Perez Galdós, Luis Buñuel, o cineasta mais importante da língua hispânica de sua época, atualiza o argumento, dando-lhe grande força dramática (uma vez que os problemas manchengos da trama são adaptados ao universo mexicano). O humilde padre Nazarín, interpretado por Francisco Rabal, vive e compartilha sua pobreza com os necessitados que moram perto da pousada de Chanfa. Após proteger uma prostituta que provocou um incêndio, é obrigado a fugir da cidade. Em sua peregrinação, as ações de Nazarín provocam uma série de problemas que se contrapõem fortemente a visão da caridade cristã.

Uma revolução eclode em uma cidade de mineração sul-americana. Um aventureiro malandro, um velho mineiro, uma bela prostituta, um deficiente auditivo e um ministro ativista escapam do regime despótico e fogem para a selva.

Family melodrama: manipulative parents ruin lives with their meddling.

A useless and bloody vendetta has been going on for ages between two families in this Mexican village. Men, sons, have killed each other for generations, for a so-called conception of honor in a revenge that never ends since it is also triggered by people of the village. Now, today, there are only two sons left, one in each family. One has become a doctor in the big city and his culture is modern. The other last one - of the other family - hasn't left the village and is waiting for the doctor to come "home" as he plans to kill him, to settle this war on this matter of honor once and for all. And the people of the village want blood.

Confronted with the unfortunate news that their favorite Streetcar, no. 133, is going to be decommissioned, two Municipal Transit workers get drunk and decide to "take 'er for one last spin," as it were. Unfortunately, the "one last spin" ends up being an all-night and all-day scramble to stay out of trouble, as they are confronted with situation after sometimes bizarre situation that prevents them from returning the "borrowed" Streetcar!

He falls in love with Nora but fearing she will betray him he resuscitates a young man who committed suicide, Ariel (Navarro) by transplanting a new brain into him, and order him to fetch Nora so that he can kill her.

Now, as the hapless imposter attempts to finance a musical without any money, he also discovers just how difficult it can be to juggle three beautiful starlets who all have eyes for their presumably wealthy producer.

After the mysterious disappearance of an oil well owner, one of his workers, Gerardo assumes the business management. Soon, the owner's sister arrives from Argentina, and, believing that Gerardo killed her brother to keep the wells for himself, she starts working as a singer under a false name in the same casino her brother disappeared, in order to find out what exactly happened.
