What happened, really, on June 26th, 2002 at the Pueyrredón Bridge cut? How do the newsrooms of the main newspapers in the country work? Why didn't the media publish the photographic sequence after the repression? How far does journalists' responsibility go? Through these questions, the film reconstructs and analyzes the events that occurred in the Avellaneda Massacre, the government's political bosses, and the documentation of the information by the mainstream media.

Iluminados pelo Fogo narra as lembranças de Esteban Leguizamón, um homem de 40 anos que, em 1982, quando tinha apenas 18 anos, foi levado como soldado conscrito a combater nas Ilhas Malvinas. A partir da tentativa de suicídio de um de seus ex-companheiros, Esteban mergulha nas recordações dessa guerra que compartilhou com outros jovens recrutas: Vargas, o suicida, E Juan, morto em combate. Ali aparecem, não só horrores próprios da guerra, o procedimento pelo frio, a fome e os maltratos dos próprios comandantes militares, como também as histórias de amizade e companheirismo.
