Persuading her proves to be an almost impossible task, till one day, Jackeline finds something Ximena has been keeping as her only treasure since she was a child: a letter Ximena's father left when he abandoned her many years before. Thus, the two women embark on a learning journey where they discover that there are many ways of being illiterate, and that not knowing how to read is just one of them.

Isidora immerses itself, in the manner of a journey through time and space, in the life of Chilean playwright Isidora Aguirre (1919-2011) and in the main ones of her 30 plays, which are recreated on screen by outstanding actors. Mixing family archives, life diaries and interviews she gave at the age of 91, the film becomes the creative biography of the author of La Pergola de las Flores, her most famous work, and opens the door to the social and political issues she narrated in her theater, the utopias that could not be and the conflicts that are still ongoing in Latin America.

The interior contains the filmmaker's personal story and his world of objects, thoughts and imaginations. Outer space contains the city of Santiago de Chile. The stories of the world inside the house are interrupted when the doorbell rings unknown and thus come into the film.
