시노카와 모모네

Noriko lost her mother Yoshie when she was only 10-years-old. Yoshie knew she would not be able to live long enough to see her children grow up and wrote birthday cards to her children in the future. Agonizing over relationships with friends, love and marriage, Noriko grows up with hints and thoughts hidden on birthday cards which are sent from her mother every year.

Toshio (Kanji Furutachi), um homem cujo casamento com Akié (Mariko Tsutsui) não anda muito bem, complica ainda mais as coisas em sua vida quando resolve dar uma segunda chance a Yasaka (Tadanobu Asano), um antigo amigo seu que acaba de sair da prisão e que será seu novo empregado. No entanto, Yasaka logo começa a se intrometer na vida de Toshio.

Twenty-four-year-old country bumpkin Aiko is a new teacher who has arrived at a new town and a new primary school. When nervous she blurts out her local dialect. This seals her nickname and reputation. Nonetheless, she is determined and strives to do her best for her students. She is an inspiration soon.

Ichiko bakes a cake for an end-of-year party with her friends. In the depths of winter, making mochi and curry keeps the people of Komori warm. Later, spring brings thoughts of her absent mother as well as rice planting and sakura, and she begins to think of leaving Komori behind again.

Baseado em um mangá de Daisuke Igarashi, o filme conta a história de Ichiko (Ai Hashimoto), uma jovem que decide sair da cidade e voltar para o campo. Ela agora vive sozinha e sobrevive com os próprios alimentos que planta.
