O policial Harry Callahan tenta rastrear um assassino psicopata num terraço antes que uma garota sequestrada morra. Richard Frost (John Marley) resolveu deixar sua esposa, Maria (Lynn Carlin), para se encontrar com a jovem Jeannie Rapp (Gena Rowlands), que conheceu recentemente em um bar. Maria, por sua vez, decide ir a uma boate, onde se deixa seduzir por um garoto de programa.

A police captain (Aldo Ray) is caught between businesses operating on the Los Angeles Sunset Strip who don't like the punks hanging out, and his belief in allowing the kids their rights. But when his daughter (Mimsy Farmer) gets involved with an unruly bunch, his attitude starts to change.

While on a business trip, Tom Phillips is in a car accident caused by a reckless driver. Tom survives the accident with a severe chronic back injury which results in him not being able to continue with his current business. The Phillips' buy a motel in the California desert and Tom with his wife Peg and their two children, Tina and Jamie make the long road trip to their new home. As they approach their destination they are terrorized by reckless teenage hot-rodders looking for kicks.

A cavalry unit rides into a Comanche trap. If the patrol leaders cannot find a way out, they will all surely perish.
