In 1974, after years of civil war, the Portuguese and their descendants fled the colony of Angola where independentist groups gradually claimed their territory back. A tribal girl discovers love and death when her path crosses that of a young Portuguese soldier. Meanwhile, another group of Portuguese soldiers is barracked inside an infinite wall from which they will have to escape once the past comes out of the grave to claim its long-awaited justice.

Mas mais do que um olhar sobre o espaço solitário de uma casa, “Gipsofilia” é também o espaço exterior a ela: a solidão de uma realizadora que, das ruas exteriores onde a vida se vislumbra ao longe, encontra, em escuros corredores, um lugar para criar o seu cinema e filmar uma herança que talvez se julgava perdida: as histórias que deram origem à sua família e que alimentam, hoje, o seu olhar e o seu desejo de futuro.

Em 2013, para celebrar o seu décimo aniversário, o IndieLisboa tinha convidado quatro realizadores a filmarem em Lisboa: Dominga Sotomayor e Marie Losier (vencedoras da Competição Internacional com “De Jueves a Domingo”, em 2012, e “The Ballad of Genesis and Lady Jaye”, em 2011, respectivamente), e Denis Côté e Gabriel Abrantes, duas presenças recorrentes do festival. “Aqui, em Lisboa” é o surpreendente resultado – quatro autores com quatro visões diferentes da cidade de Lisboa, passando pelos registos da ficção, do documentário, da comédia ou do fantástico. Mas com o traço comum que espelha o festival que os acolhe: a independência.

Falam da sua formação, da sua experiência profissional, das suas origens, produzindo uma pluralidade de pontos de vistas sobre a escola, a cidade, o campo, a família, o mundo operário e o universo do emprego. Partindo das histórias de vida dos protagonistas, o filme desloca‐se para uma abordagem ensaística sobre o trabalho no mundo contemporâneo.
