As the documentary points out, 85 percent of all silent pictures are gone forever because of neglect, abuse, and improper storage of original prints. This film stresses the importance of saving these and more recent films as cultural documents that have become part of our shared history. It also takes the viewer through the painstaking process of film restoration, and highlights some of the organizations and individuals who are spear-heading this movement.

Eternia é atacada por Esqueleto (Frank Langella) que toma o Castelo de Greyskul e faz a Feiticeira (Christina) de refém em seu próprio lar. Sendo assim, o herói He-Man (Dolf Lundgren) está acuado junto com seus companheiros Mentor (Jon Cypher) e Teela (Chelsea Field). Diante disso, He-man e a sua turma parte para a Terra através da ajuda de Gwildor (Billy Barty), fugindo das garras de Esqueleto. Lá encontram o casal de adolescentes Julie Winston (Courteney Cox) e Kevin Corringan (Ronber Duncan Mcneill), que os ajudaram a voltar a Eternia e lutar contra as forças do mal de Esqueleto.
