Um excelente elenco participa deste filme, James Mason e Sylvia Miles, como dois produtores da Broadway que a vítima humilharia, Roddy McDowall como um colunista social que vê em uma biografia da explosiva artista a sua tímida e ciumenta esposa. Além, é claro , de Peter Ustinov como o grande Hercule Poirot. A música de Cole Porter completa o pedigree deste filme que não só é um excelente filme de suspense como também um bom exemplo de como manter o clima de mistério sem apelar para a violência excessiva.
