Audrey is an unemployed single mother who lives with her 16-year-old son, Enzo. All is going well for Enzo, a bright kid who loves sports, until he takes a medical drug and is suddenly faced with a critical illness. Even though Audrey has never been a fighter, she discovers a new strength and embarks on a quest to uncover the truth about what happened with the help of pro-bono lawyer Master Tcheuffa.

Chaya, a school teacher in India, is telling the story of Diwali to her pupils. At the same time in the US, Murray who is a war photographer is about to meet his family for the first time after a tour in Afghanistan with the US Army. Pablo, a kid from a township in Argentina is looking at a crowd in the local village square. His father has gone to find him a horse for the annual race. Chaya, Murray and Pablo are about to simultaneously face a crucial moment of their respective lives...They will change forever!
