Ernest é um grande urso, palhaço e músico, que vai acolher em sua casa a ratinha Célestine, uma orfã que escapou do mundo subterrâneo dos roedores. Com muita amizade, os dois vão encontrar uma vida confortável, mudando, para sempre, as normas desse mundo.
