The film reconstructs with care and tactile and optical sensuality the path and legacy of a unique figure of woman and artist: from the turn of the sixties with the "Looms", the "Sewn Canvas", the "Breads", the "Scriptures", the collective action carried out with the citizens of Ulassai in 1981 ("Tying to the mountain"), which anticipates relational art, one of the main artistic currents of the late twentieth century, by a decade. The repertoire materials and landscapes integrate the chorus of testimonies from friends, collaborators, artists, and critics with the same mysterious serenity of the artist's voice.

Os surbiles são mulheres aparentemente como todas as outras, mas que abandonam seu corpo físico entre o pôr-do-sol e o amanhecer, no sono ou por meio de drogas, entrando em casas onde as crianças vivem e sugando seu sangue. No passado, essas mulheres foram culpadas em aldeias da Sardenha Central pela morte súbita e inexplicável de muitas crianças. O filme conta e reconstrói algumas dessas histórias, emergentes de uma pesquisa antropológica. Entre os casos ilustrados, alguns surbiles aparecem como figuras boas que protegem as crianças dos surbiles do mal: batalhas ferozes ocorrem entre os corpos imateriais das duas espécies de surbiles.
