Um espião britânico aposentado é chamado de volta ao serviço por seu governo para ajudar a impedir a Coreia do Norte de por as mãos em um vírus mortal chamado de "A Morte Vermelha". Quando o velho agente britânico Harry Palmer perde o emprego porque a Guerra Fria acabou, ele é prontamente abordado por um empresário russo, Alex.
