Mio is 20 years old. Having lost her parents early, she and her grandmother run a traditional inn in Nagano. However, her grandmother gets sick. Mio moves to Tokyo and lives with her father’s best friend, Kyosuke. He runs a public bath. She begins to work at the public bath, but it is scheduled to be demolished to make way for redevelopment.

A murder takes place in the town where Kenta Ochiai lives. The mutilated body is found by the riverside and Kenta, an elementary school boy, sees a crocodile swimming in the water. Being labeled as a liar in class, he decides to capture the creature with his friend. Was the body mutilated by the crocodile or the murderer? All connections lead to the riverside involving his teacher, parents and a girl practicing her trumpet across the river.

Toru, a high schooler, decides to leave his grandmother's home in the mountains and moves in with his aunt. There he meets three sisters at his welcome party. On his way to his new home, he is struck by one of the sisters' beauty. A boy who spent his life quietly like a plant starts to take action on his own.
