Esther, a young blind girl scarred by events of the Second World War, lives in a world dominated by fear. She seeks refuge in an airfield close to her school where a happy-go-lucky RAF pilot bemusedly indulges her fantasies of her late father, a Flight Lieutenant during the War. Their adventures do little to stem her escalating paranoia, leaving Esther unable to shake the feeling that history is repeating itself.
