Henrik, the son of the captain of RF2, starts an investigation as his father is set to blame for the accident. However, Henrik faces opposition from the townspeople, meanwhile grief threatens to tear Henrik's family apart. The film is inspired by true events.

Through the traffic of fireworks, the family finds a way towards reconciliation and forgiveness for the first time since the family tragedy twenty years ago which Anders feels responsible for.
