Since the death of his parents, the teenage Burak lives with his uncle Cemil and grandmother in a remote Turkish village town. They try to make a living by selling pomegranates but while the religious Cemil is satisfied to live his life in poverty, Burak struggles to leave for the city and going to university. When the grandmother gets sick, both have to make tough decisions that will change their lives.

Martin and Eric grew up in a small village in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. They have been friends since they were little boys and met when they were fishing, and from then on went to the lake together every Sunday. The couple is inseparable and very much in love, and this great love and the friendship of the threesome is only repeatedly tested by the drunken attacks by Eric’s unpredictable, aggressive twin brother Basti.

Fabi is gay an that's fine. Whereas Benni says that the long nights together with Fabi are nothing else than the product of to much beer. Fabi is going to a party with Benni against his better know and it comes to a violent argument with Benni's friend Maik about Fabi's homosexuality. Benni has to make his choice between keeping his secret or defending Fabi against Maik.
