'The Placebo' is based on the theme of 'existentialism' and whether existence comes before essence. The film's central protagonist is a young author who has a recurring dream that the answer to his life's question lay at particular spot. In the dream, he arrives at The Reculver Towers at the break of dawn and locates the spot from his dreams. In the dream he digs a hole at the site. The dig is supposed to reveal the significance and purpose of his life. Does he find his purpose?
