Margaret Williams directs this 2001 production of adaptation of Benjamin Britten's television opera based on a short story by Henry James. Performers featured include Gerald Finley, Peter Savidge and Josephine Barstow. The conductor is Kent Nagano. As pertinent now as then, OWEN WINGRAVE was composed by Benjamin Britten at the height of the Vietnam War. The opera poses the question: Is pacifism an act of cowardice? Or rather a desire to escape from the spiral of war and create world peace? To what extent do we determine our own futures? Should we let past events inform the decisions we make? Britten’s characters grapple with timeless issues in this gripping psychodrama.

An aimless young man, Johnny, is sent prison. He entrusts his beloved dog, Evie, to the care of his former lover and best friend, Frank. When he gets out of prison, he has to face difficulties at home. Added to this, is the fact that he may have to give up Evie to Frank.

Baseado em fatos reais, ex-prisioneiro do campo, Fuga de Sobibor / Escape from Sobibor conta a aguerrida fuga de prisioneiros de um campo de concentração nazista durante a Segunda Guerra Mundial. Sobibor é um dos três campos de concentração localizado na Polônia oriental. Um grupo de prisioneiros é temporariamente poupado para poder trabalhar no acampamento, sob condições degradantes impostas pelos oficiais nazistas. Relembrando o destino desumano de cada dia, os prisioneiros planejam o impossível - fugir de Sobibor! Uma história que verdadeiramente reflete a força, a coragem e a resistência do espírito humano.
