Tommy Hart (Colin Farrell) é um estudante do 2º ano de Direito que se alista no exército para lutar pelos Aliados na 2ª Guerra Mundial. Ao invés de executá-lo, os nazistas concordam com o plano apresentado pelo coronel William McNamara (Bruce Willis), também prisioneiro no campo, que propõe que o soldado acusado tenha um julgamento realizado no local. Hart é então designado a defender o soldado acusado enquanto que McNamara usa a situação para empreender seu plano de fuga do local.

To prepare, organize and execute the exchange of twelve apartments is a work worthy champions. Radosta, who was excellently played by Rudolf Hrušínský, solved all sudden difficulties and complications on the fly and with grace. To be sure that the on the D-day everything goes well he prepares a little rehearsal, which reveals many minor issues caused for example by wedding ordered to inappropriate term or hesitation of some participants. Last but not least a night exercise announced by drunk psychologist Knotků, creates a lot of confusion that nearly sabotaged the whole operation.

Former Nazi Klaus Abard survives to the 1990s by taking anti-ageing pills. He plans to use a time travel trip to return to Germany in 1944 and present Hitler with a hydrogen bomb, so that he can win the war. Unfortunately the pilot, woman-chasing Karel Bures, dies on the morning of the trip and his earnest twin brother Jan impersonates him, without knowing about the plot. The plot goes wrong when they lose the bomb and land near Hitler's bunker in 1941, at a time that the Nazis sense victory. Bures, with two of the plotters, escape capture by the Nazis and make it back to the time machine. Bures programs the machine to return one day before they left, because he figures he can then save his brother and foil the plot.
