Los restos del ejército republicano cruzan la frontera francesa. Entre los exiliados Lluis Companys, presidente de la Generalitat catalana y Aguirre, presidente de Euskadi. Con la invasión de Francia por las tropas alemanas, termina violentamente el exilio de Companys. La Gestapo lo entrega, no respetando su carácter de refugiado político al gobierno de Franco. Conducido por el Conde de Mayalde es trasladado a Madrid y posteriormente a Barcelona. De las torturas políticas se pasa al ¿simulacro? de juicio y el Presidente es condenado a muerte. Con el fusilamiento, motivado por el odio y no por razones de seguridad, se trataba de cerrar un proceso de democratización y libertad que había adquirido sus expresiones más clarividentes en Cataluña.

Four different Alices wander through mazes constructed from 40 years of Spanish history in this post-Franco meditation. Loosely related to the "Alice" of Alice in Wonderland, in one episode of this film, Alice (who is clearly a metaphor for the Spanish people) is raped by some multinational corporations. Told in a somewhat confusing manner, especially for those unfamiliar with the nuances of Spain's history in the period between 1936 and 1975, this is director Jorge Feliu's first feature film.

Lozana, a young, beautiful and clever woman decides to move to the city after a tragic love story. There, she meets Rampin, a naughty rascal who soon finds out that her wit surpasses his own by a handful. When he falls in love with her, he can't help suffering as he sees how she plays not only with him, but with all of her lovers as well.

Loris is a young man who begins a romance with Francisca, his piano teacher, a forty-year-old who lives dominated by her mother, who was a successful soprano in her youth. Loris goes to live at Francisca's house. They will have as neighbor a sexual obsessive, fan of carnivorous plants and spying on people with binoculars. When they are preparing a trip, Francisca's mother shows up at the house. Her initial indignation soon gives way to a great interest for the young man, which will provoke the terrible jealousy of Francisca.

Silvia travels to the big city where she meets a married man, with whom she ends up having a romantic relationship.

Luis, the son of the greater of the farm owned by Don Pedro, is accused of stealing a large amount of money. Stolen money has really Joseph son of Don Pedro, forcing Louis to confess to the robbery, threatening to take the farm to his parents, older may not work elsewhere. An aspiring young writer lives with his pregnant wife and works for a newspaper to provide for his growing family. When his sister-in-law comes to visit, there is a mutual attraction between the guest and the writer.
