A vida ficcionalizada do pintor e poeta Yumeji Takehisa (1884-1934). Yumeji está em Kanazawa, esperando a chegada de sua amante Hikono, quando se depara com a bela viúva Tomoyo, que perambula pelas cercanias de um lago procurando o corpo de seu marido Wakiya, supostamente assassinado por um bandido. O pintor fica impressionado com Tomoyo e ajuda a viúva em sua busca. Em seguida, eles se tornam amantes. Último volume da “trilogia Taisho,” o filme intensifica os procedimentos oníricos e alucinatórios dos filmes anteriores, chamando mais a atenção para os elementos simbólicos e as atmosferas do que para a trama.

The Kobayashi family finally get the chance to move out of their tiny, cramped Tokyo apartment in favour of the suburban house of their dreams. But all is not well: the house is infested by termites and the family starts cracking up: Son Masaki is studying so obsessively for his exams that he's losing his mind; daughter Erika is oblivious of all but her forthcoming record company audition, grandfather Yasukuni starts getting World War II flashbacks and father Katsuhiko is so worried about his family's "sickness" that he thinks can only be cured by group suicide.

A group of burglars in black tights breaks into a church to commit robbery and commits outrages upon the pastor's young daughter. After some time, Detective Harada and his squad rush/came back to the church they robbed earlier. In the duty station, the police chief informs Harada that his ex-colleague, Nakamura, has escaped from a mental hospital where he had been hospitalized for insanity. Harada and his partner, Kato, are assigned to pursue Nakamura on the run. If Nakamura's insanity turns out to be false, the cop buddies must terminate him and masquerade it as self-defense.

Depicting female karma and sexual sorrow in the midst of revenge and immorality, a woman betrayed by her lover plans to take revenge on him by seducing his only son and dragging him into a sensual trap, but before long she too is writhing in delight and falling in love with him.
