Peter é amigo de Maria, também psiquiatra freudiana, e Betsy, mãe de David, morando em Cadaqués. Maria prepara uma viagem para passar alguns dias com Betsy. David trabalha em uma empresa de computadores em Girona, dirigida por um jovem indiano muito talentoso, Usha. David tem uma grande crise com seu parceiro, Daniel, um maiorquino que vive em Barcelona. Albert é um famoso escritor britânico aposentado em Begur, passando o luto pela perda.

Daniella é uma jovem cientista que fica muito abalada pelo suicídio misterioso do seu pai, no dia do aniversário dela. Pouco depois, quando visita a sua mãe numa ala psiquiátrica para lhe dar a notícia, ela trata-a por outro nome. Esse facto, associado à profanação da sepultura do pai e ao surgimento de um estranho que afirma ser o seu verdadeiro pai, lançam-na numa busca pelas verdadeiras razões pelas quais o pai decidiu matar-se.

Strephon, a shepherd (the son of a Fairy, Iolanthe, and a mortal), is in love with Phyllis, a shepherdess. He wants to marry her, but, although Phyllis also loves Strephon, she has a dilemma - she is so beautiful that all of the House of Lords, as well as her guardian, the Lord Chancellor, are also desirous of marrying her. There are many complications - including the peers being threatened by the Fairies - before a happy conclusion is reached by all.
