Kathrin sofre de uma doença renal e precisa urgentemente de um transplante. Ela espera que seu marido Arnold a ajude, mas ele é um arquiteto de sucesso no meio de um grande projeto e tem medo de fazer a doação. Até que Götz, um amigo do casal, se voluntaria imediatamente para salvar a vida de Kathrin, causando uma briga descontrolada entre o casal que expõe todas as fragilidades do relacionamento.

Professor Karl Michaeli is a former star cellist and grantler , as he is in the book. After the death of his beloved wife Maria in 2014, the retired music professor lives alone in a three-room apartment in Vienna. To his displeasure, several foreign families are housed in his apartment building. The widowed, free-spirited apartment building owner Esther Polgar also houses refugees in his home. These are a special thorn in Karl's side.
Story
The chance meeting of two people at the darkest moments of their lives leads to a bright new beginning : Arthur (around 50) and Claire (around 30) pull each other from the abyss – by trying to save the other they see the worth of their own life.
