"A musical film of the totalitarian era" is the the second title of the film. The film is based on a legendary school film of Tomáš Vorel, called INg (1985).The story line stays the same - a young engineer finds a new job and wants to work, this proves to be impossible in the last days of the communist era.

Honza and Zuzana are very young husband and wife. They have a little daughter of whom willingly occasionally take care the grandparents and Honza's fifteen-year-old brother Martin. Zuzana continues studying and Honza devotes all weekends as an amateur competitor to the motor-cycles at the speedway. Zuzana is not interested in motor-cycles. Martin holds responsible for his brother's marriage and at the advice of his friend Magda, who is of the same age, invites her sister-in-law to the club of Hucul horses so that she does not feel bored. But by misfortunes and unexplained quarrels both young husband and wife start being jealous of one another.

Um divorciado médico de meia-idade (Rudolf Hrusinsky) estabelece prática em uma pequena cidade. Aos poucos, ele é atraído para a vida de seus pacientes - um casal sem filhos, uma menina grávida com uma mãe severa e o filho de um agricultor - e cada relacionamento revela um pouco mais sobre ele e sobre a comunidade em que vive... OU... No saguão do terminal do aeroporto, marido e mulher, estão se separando calmamente mas, aparentemente, para sempre. Ao contrário da mulher Ema, o médico Meluzin ( Rudolf Hrusínský ) regressa ao seu país. Ele se tornou médico distrital em uma área que o lembra de sua infância. Ele ganha um quarto, no centro de saúde, ao lado do apartamento de um casal de Kodet, sem filhos. O presidente do Comitê Nacional Local, Vlach (Josef Somr), não consegue parar de se perguntar por que Meluzin deixou sua posição de prestígio em sua antiga clínica mas com o tempo, o médico atencioso ganha sua confiança e a de seus pacientes.

Honza Pavelka (Jan Hrusínský) wins the junior motorbike speed races. His thirteen-year-old brother Martin (Roman Cada), his assistant and biggest fan, answers the questions of his schoolfriend Pavlína in a superior tone. Student Zuzana (Libuse Safránková), who gave her scarf to Honza to wear around his neck for the races as a talisman is Honza's girlfriend. He met her when he came to her parent's home to repair the TV set. Honza declines an invitation to celebration with his friends. He goes off with Zuzana instead, but she refuses his intimate advances. The offended young man, who is about to serve his two years in the army, tries to blackmail her emotionally and the couple breaks up. Martin tries various schemes to bring them together again.

Blazenka likes to imagine she is on a desolate island and has to find a way how to survive. After the death of her mother she stays together with her baby brother and has to take care of the family. In this difficult situation, she plays this role-game that helps her to deal with the sudden loss of her mother.
