Durante os tumultos hindus e muçulmanos que eclodiram logo após a partição, Tara salva Sakina de uma turba assassina persegui-la quando ela não conseguiu chegar até o trem depois de ser empurrada e perdida na multidão. Como a máfia quer violentá-la e depois matá-la, Tara Singh defende Sakina e disfarça-a como um sikh pra protegê-la. Enquanto dirigia de volta para casa de Tara, a história tem um flash-back principal mostrando a relação entre Tara e Sakina antes deste incidente e como eles se conheceram.
