Mira, Eevis and Meiju are reality TV stars, searching for acceptance, but become persecuted by the general public for their behaviour instead. Resurfacing is hard in the society, that aims to categorize us as either winners or losers.

The Kind Stranger is a moving, at times comical film about the ASMR community, whose members try to ease each other’s pain by making youtube videos of tender care, quiet whispers and close up attention. We see the many hours of work that “ASMR artists” put into making their videos – and their presence and sincerity. In the age of anxiety, ASMR aspires to fulfill our ancient, primal needs. We are all a bit broken, but human beings are incredibly inventive when it comes to finding ways to reach out to our kind.

Leena prepares a meal for two and leaves her cottage to pick up her husband Boris from the hospital. The nurse warns them of his condition, but they’ve already decided to spend the night together. In the cottage, they have dinner and try their best to enjoy themselves. As the night turns to early morning, we see a camera stand in the bedroom pointing towards them.

After Ronin neglects to clear up her dropped groceries, they start to mix and bubble, transforming into a small pudding. Whilst this initially seems odd, for Ronin, it is easily ignorable. Over the next few days, the pudding grows bigger and bigger.
